You should also think about whether you need an id case that's easy to remove or display. Do you want to be able to hold business cards? Do you need a money clip? Do you want to carry your checkbook with you? Functionality is all about what you need your wallet to do for you. Performance is everything to happiness.
Next you will want to consider the quality. If you are buying a leather wallet check for consistency in color. Leather wallets should last forever. Remember split leathers don't last as long as top grain leather. It is always a good idea to check the stitching to make sure it is even and secure.
Pick the wallet up and feel it. How does it feel? Does it sit nicely in your hand? Is it comfortable? It should fit like a glove. The style you choose is entirely up to you. Consider the material type, the look, the size, how it closes, and everything else related to style. Material type is very important relating on how you plan to use the wallet.
